As part of the preparation for our Christingle Service, Class One learnt about the meanings behind the orange and made their own Christingles ready to take to church.
We held our Christingle on the last afternoon of term. Rev. Thornett led our service and Mr James, our Bishop's Visitor, read us a letter from the Bishop of Lincoln. Click here to see the letter from the Bishop. Several children read prayers, some of which they had written themselves, and Mrs Morris read the story of 'The First Christmas'. We then lit our Christingle oranges and the children held them carefully all around the church whilst singing 'Away in a Manger'. The service finished with prayers and blessings and the Christmas song, 'It was on a Starry Night.'
It was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and members of the local community in church with us. What a lovely afternoon to end 2013.
